Don't be disenchanted by life!
Welcome to The Wisdomous -
a friendly email sent to you every week to nourish your mental wealth and give you a better perspective on life. You will find micro-lessons from macro thinkers, a great story, fabulous reads, and fun suggestions.
Hey friend,
There are days of fatigue, weeks of exhaustion, and months of stagnation. Yet, the beauty of hindsight allows us to see that maybe we should have been more grateful and that what we needed was already there. The goal is to keep going even when the odds are against you.
The plan is you get up and give your best, but this isn't easy because you have bills to pay, health problems, family dramas, inadequacies, and life's inherent threads of disappointment - all of these work against you and moving forward isn't easy. At some point, though, you will have to go through them.
You will have to deal with them at some point, and when life throws us a curveball, all we can do is walk through it.
You are more resilient than you realise; the fact that you are reading this shows me that you choose to learn something for your benefit, which is a good indication that you will be alright - you are well on your way to making essential choices to your goals.
Believe in God, put in the effort, and remember to ease yourself into things beneficial to your mind - observe life for what it is - what is happening around you - and begin to construct a path to where you want to go.
Have a better view of the future, which means that you need to start cleaning up the present to have a brighter future. To clean, I suggest getting rid of some bad habits, getting out of some toxic relationships, and changing your environment to reflect the path you are going down. In the end, everything will be worth it!
Keep in mind this quote by Henry David Thoreau: "You can't dream yourself into a character, you have to hammer and forge yourself into one."
The best version of you has to go through this forging stage, don't be disenchanted by life, keep going!
The wisdomous question
What is the one thing you perform without thinking about it and for which you get no credit?
I created
I completed two books and made two YouTube videos, and I'm looking forward to sharing that information with you next week.
I opted to do nothing for a day - which turned out to be more difficult than doing things - in the following weeks, I will be attempting to do nothing for certain periods - might be just an hour - and sharing my experiences with you - I believe this will be pretty fantastic.
I learned
Do nothing: We feel obliged to extract productivity out of every last nanosecond from our daily lives, assessing our worthwhileness as human beings by how successful we are.
The wisdomous nuggets
Playing the victim prevents you from discovering your true strength.
“People will do anything, no matter how absurd, to avoid facing their souls.” -Carl Jung.
Trust yourself. You are bolder, more brilliant, and more competent than you realise. Keep working hard.
I adore you with honesty and profound purity, out of love and not loneliness.
weekly note
It is better to learn how to think rather than what to think about.
I have been reflecting on this note for a while, and I have a couple of questions for you :
Have you ever taken the time to learn how to think?
Do you believe that thinking can be taught?
Watching list:
Music
Movies/TV
Deep Water: For thriller lovers, in this one, the husband who enables his wife to have extramarital encounters to keep their marriage together becomes a key suspect in the disappearance of her lovers.
Master: During their time at a primarily white institution in New England, two African American women begin to share frightening experiences. I enjoy Regina Hall's performances, and this is Writer-director Mariama Diallo's debut feature - an exciting watch on amazon prime.
Eternally Confused and Eager for Love: Okay, this cracked me up from the beginning. This mini-series on Netflix explores Ray's story, a twenty-four-year-old with social anxiety who navigates through life with the assistance of Wiz, who is his 'inner voice.'
Until the next one,
stay safe and sound!
